Increasing amount of geospatial big data requires new approaches and techniques to handle and extract useful information.  The geospatial big data has diverse characteristic in form, in space, in time. The challenges created by geospatial big data such as volume, variety and velocity exceeds the capability of conventional spatial computing technologies. Geospatial data analytics and geospatial visual analytics in corporation with visual analytics, data analytics provides new tools to handle the challenges posed with big data.

 The geospatial big data is increasingly created by geo-enabled community and professionals with trajectories of mobile devices, GPS navigators, vehicle monitoring and surveillance measurements, crowd sourcing, high-temporally changing road maps, POIs, continuously geo-data creating mobile device owners, streaming images and videos from satellites, aerial planes, UAVs, spatiotemporal data stored and managed in GIS enabled databases, mobile mapping among others.

 The volume of geospatial big data increases with a very high temporal rate in disperse variety of forms with varying accuracies/consistencies with differing content/variables.
